Numbers, Numbers, Numbers…

Category: PersonalChrisM @ 2:18 pm

I still have problems accessing my CPanel interface if I don’t use the HTTPS address to connect, but as there is no disadvantage to this method, only increased security, I’m not overly concerned. Anyway, I was looking through some of the info provided by AWStats, and noticed that regular readers (at least those with a fixed/semi-permanent IP address) are increasing for this blog. Thank you to whoever you are. I also noticed that the raw number of unique visits has been getting healthier over the last few months, despite a break in posts whilst I was in Amsterdam and Britain.

The search terms people are using when they find my site also interests me, see below for an example of them. Free bed plans and Kazakhstan are regularly in the top 5, however I never would have thought that Hetty Wainthropp would be a source of traffic! I have checked through the top 50 (Google) results for that search phrase, and I’m nowhere to be seen, so someone, somewhere is really quite interested in the TV series…

kazakhstan, chris merriman, computers internet blog, free bed plans, triclear, tewksbury flood 2007, hetty wainthropp

Anyway, feel free to laugh at the visitor numbers, gawk at the search terms, or simply ignore this post. On the other hand, if other stats are of interest, such as the countries most visitors come from, or the OS/Browser break down, feel free to contact me.

Try New Hair Styles Without The Cost Or Fear Factor!

Category: PersonalChrisM @ 9:05 pm

Ever wondered what you might look like with a completely different hairstyle, but been too afraid to take the plunge and actually have your hair chopped and/or coloured? If so, check the preceding link for a site that offers you the opportunity to experiment with your look, without the expense or potential tears if things don’t look as you may have imagined.
The idea is quite simple, and if you promise not to laugh too excessively, I will even show you the result of just what I would look like with a hair cut quite different from my current one. (OK, I’d also need to have hair implants to achieve the look, but there you go…)
You start by uploading a photo of yourself, and then proceed to indicate to the system just where your eyes are in the picture, as well as the outline of your lips etc. Once this process is complete, you get to the fun section – choosing which star’s haircut you want to emulate, and then get to see how it would look on you.
The best part? You can try out the system for free, with the only real restriction being that not all hair styles are available.
Anyway, have you promised not to laugh too much yet???

Chris With Different Hair

There you go, that is what I would look like with Dominic Monaghan’s (the guy I’ve blogged about before, who was in Hetty Wainthroppe and then Lost) hair on my head. For those that missed the original post, here is a little montage of my appearance over the last 14 years or so… (And yes, there are no suitable photos of me with long hair included there…)

The Missing Link

Category: In The MediaChrisM @ 5:37 am

A couple of months ago I posted about Charlie from Lost, or rather the actor that played that role. I included a couple of screen shots from an earlier role (Geoffrey Shawcross) he played in the ‘Hetty Wainthropp Investigates’ drama. Today I caught another episode in which Dominic Monaghan looks more like a young man than a teenager, slowly bridging the gap, looks wise, between Geoffrey and Charlie. Anyway, the shots are below.

Charlie - Lost

original first image lost somewhere, somehow, sorry…

Hmm, seeing the pictures all together, maybe it was just the haircut, but watching the Hetty Wainthropp episode today, the cars looked a little more modern, and the character now has a love interest, so I am assuming there was at least a series or two between the episodes. The BBC Prime Satellite TV channel seems to do that quite a lot with their shows – jump around, and not follow chronological order. ‘My Family’ is the most obvious example of that – people keep getting younger and older, moving out of the house to live on their own, then the next day everyone is younger and living together again. Can’t really complain, it is still just brilliant to have any English language comedy and drama to watch, without having to download them 🙂

Charlie From Lost…

Category: PersonalChrisM @ 6:33 pm

This time, I don’t think I will need Alex to come along and correct me on character names again 🙂 …

Irina recently noticed recently that ‘Charlie Pace’ (Dominic Monaghan) from Lost played ‘Geoffrey Shawcross’ in Hetty Wainthropp Investigates. There is around a 10 year gap between the two roles, but Ira’s eagle eyes spotted the similarity. This afternoon, I noticed an episode of Hetty etc. was on, so I flicked the satellite onto BBC Prime.

Anyway, I have included a couple of screen grabs from both Lost and Hetty Wainthropp Investigates for comparison, click the last two to see a higher resolution version.
